the 2022 l.A.R. Resident artist

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Linn Phyllis Seeger has been selected as the winner of the Lucy Art Residency 2022 from over 300 applications to our Open Call! We are looking forward to hosting her in Kavala in August/September 2022, together with all the other invited guests for the Residency and Public Program of L.A.R.

Amidst the infinite array of major historical events we are living through, social media platforms ask us every day: What’s your story? In her work, Linn Phyllis Seeger explores the responsibility the networked individual has within the circulation and retention of personal and global crises, and will use the pause provided by the LUCY Art Residency to experiment in articulating cloud-activated micro-spaces of mourning.

LINN PHYLLIS SEEGER is a cloud-based artist and PhD Candidate at the Royal College of Art in London. Deploying an iPhone-based art practice, Seeger’s work confronts the password-protected private space of the phone with the metaphorical topology of the cloud as public counter space beyond its terrestrial installation of server farms. Recently selected as Foam Talent 2022, other engagements include an invitation to COP26 as part of the Terra Carta Design Lab Award, as well as the participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale 2021. Linn Phyllis Seeger’s two monographs, ‘You I Everything Else’ and ‘0N0E‘, were published by Skinnerboox. Since October 2021, Linn Phyllis Seeger is a lecturer and tutor in Media Studies, a college-wide course at the RCA School of Architecture.
